The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? 8 million Iraqis need urgent aid

According to a report by Oxfam and the NGO Coordination Committee in Iraq, one third of the Iraqi population needs emergency aid because of the humanitarian crisis caused by war and ongoing violence. The report disclosed that around 8 million Iraqis are in urgent need of water, sanitation, food and shelter. It also warned of a humanitarian crisis that had escalated since the 2003 invasion.

Back to square one on Moulsham Lodge Centre

Essex County Council are still dithering over the future for Moulsham Lodge Community Centre, despite pressure from the local Lib Dem councillors. In March ECC was going to auction the site, but cancelled this when the meeting with local representatives was arranged for 27th March.
