Save our green belt
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? MP finds out for himself the difficulties experienced by wheelchair users in Kendal
Local MP Tim Farron today joined local resident Ian Knowles to find out for himself the difficulties faced by wheelchair users navigating round Kendal. Tim borrowed a motorised scooter and joined Ian on his usual journey from Rinkfield into Kendal.

COUNCIL KEEN TO NOTIFY NEIGHBOURS ABOUT LICENSING APPLICATIONS
Local people, who could be affected by applications for alcohol and gambling licences, will now be directly notified before each application is considered, following a decision made by Woking Borough Council's Executive at its meeting last week (Thursday 28 September 2006).
