The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Taxpayers cannot continue to dole out money to Northern Rock says Cable

Northern Rock may have borrowed as much as £29 billion from the Bank of England since its crisis began, after a jump in loans last week, according to Bank of England data. Northern Rock is likely to have borrowed 2.7 billion pounds last week, up from an estimated 1.1 billion pounds in the previous week, the latest Bank of England balance sheet data showed on Thursday. That would be the biggest weekly loan for five weeks.
