Save our green belt

The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Hertfordshire: Conservatives slammed for putting on hold road safety works for a second time

Residents in Nascot and North Watford have reacted with horror and disgust this week when told that the County Council has, for a second time, put on hold major road safety works for Nascot Wood Road and Goodwood Parade. These schemes together with several others are not now going ahead because the County Council budget on adult care is being overspent. Some £3million of highways projects are affected. The Nascot Wood scheme was due to cost around £450,000.

£30+ London Return: Fares from Folkestone and Hythe rise by 6.3% for 2007

The cost of a Southeastern "saver return" train fare from Folkestone Central, Folkestone West and Sandling to London will rise from £29.80 to over £31 in 2007, according to figures released today. A "cheap day" return will rise to over £16 for the same journey.

LIB DEM SLAMS LATEST TORY DELAYS OVER 'INSULTING' AREA ACTION PLAN

Mid Sussex Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman Serena Tierney has slammed Conservative performance over the Area Action Plan (AAP). Ms Tierney told local Lib Dems that the recent Tory draft AAP was 'insulting' to the people of East Grinstead' and promised 'a better way' from the Lib Dems.
