The former leader of Slough council's Conservatives Derek Cryer has quit the group - a fortnight after being ousted by Labour defector Pervez Choudhry.
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

At Shepway's Annual Council meeting on 13th May, Shepway Conservatives passed an amendment to its Council Constitution removing the right for the opposition to chair a Council Scrutiny Committee in direct breach of its own constitution.

It has been announced that, subject to the approval of parliament, the Surrey Police Authority (SPA) will be capped. They will have to refund £1.6 million (about £3 on average per council tax payer) at a cost of a further £1.2 million for re-billing. The news broke just hours after the SPA had met in public last Tuesday, when the chairman Mr Peter Williams had said they were still awaiting the government's decision following representations made to ministers by the SPA.
Local MP Tim Farron will launch the fundraising campaign for his sponsored triathlon in support of CancerCare. The triathlon will take place on the 11th July.
