Save our green belt
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Liberal Democrats will cut people's income tax bill by £700.
The Liberal Democrats will fight the next general election with a pledge to cut income tax bills by £700 for people on low and middle incomes. The party will promise to raise the income tax personal allowance to £10,000 by closing tax loopholes exploited by big businesses and the wealthy.

The Regeneration of Cheriton Recreation Ground
At a Folkestone Town Council Meeting on 28th April 2008, young people from Cheriton came to ask Councillors for better provisions for young people in the Cheriton area. In response the Town Council and a local youth and community engagement project, 'What4', began working with the young people in partnership with Shepway District Council.

'Economics Guru' Comes To Spelthorne
Lib Dem MP Dr Vince Cable paid a visit to the Greeno Centre, Shepperton, to talk about the economy, and take a question and answer session on a range of other topics. A packed room of over 70 people heard him describe Lib Dem plans to help the lower-waged and pensioners in the current economic downturn.
