Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats have reacted with astonishment to the Council's plans to spend £1.2 million on a Ground Source Heat Pump at a private development in Bedford Town Centre rather than on energy efficiency improvements at council buildings or affordable rented housing.

The sale of Shepway Council land in Weymouth Road, Cheriton next to the Bowls Club has been delayed after massive local opposition. The Council are proposing to sell the land - currently a green space and part of Cheriton Rec - for a housing development of up to 6 houses.

For the next election the Liberal Democrats will produce a web-based interactive manifesto, which will use audio-visual communications as its centrepiece rather than the written word. To work towards that, a discussion site for party members has been launched allowing party members - including members of DELGA - to influence the tone and direction of the final manifesto.
