The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Local Lib Dem to help make the case for Britain's role in Europe

How can the European Union (EU) help resolve the economic crisis; and what does the future hold for the EU if the Lisbon Treaty is not approved? These issues will be addressed at a public meeting on Saturday 8th November at 4.00pm at the Millennium Centre, Baddow Road, Great Baddow, Chelmsford. Clegg calls for 2p tax cut to "stimulate ailing economy"

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg has called on all parties in the Scottish Parliament to work together to cut income tax by 2p to help stimulate an ailing economy. Mr. Clegg was speaking while visiting the Glenrothes constituency in support of the Liberal Democrat by-election campaign.
