Save our green belt
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Tories Select Northampton Damian for Folkestone & Hythe
Following the Conservatives selection meeting last night, the next Conservative candidate for Folkestone and Hythe will be Damian Collins. Mr Collins stood and lost in Northampton North in the East Midlands in the 2005. As widely predicted, the Conservatives chose to overlook the two female candidates.

Liberal Democrats stand up for rights of British citizens
In a keynote speech, Sir Menzies Campbell has warned that the British way of life is increasingly under threat from the state and that civil liberties are being trampled underfoot by new legislation. Speaking at the Tom Paine Festival in Lewes on the topic of 'A Liberal Britain in a Liberal World'. Sir Menzies set out his vision for a more liberal and secure Britain, including scrapping ID cards to boost police numbers, calling for greater government transparency and advocating the strengthening of international institutions.
