Centenary of the Basic State Pension
This afternoon the Liberal Democrats celebrated the 100th anniversary of the basic state pension.
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Folkestone and Hythe Parliamentary Campaigner Neil Matthews, Shepway Liberal Democrat Group Leader Lynne Beaumont, Councillor Peter Carroll, Dhan Gurung, Tim Prater, Darren Briddock, Maureen Speller, Season Prater and many others have today joined a reception at Lib Dem conference in Bournemouth organised by the Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen's Organisation (GAESO).

At a meeting on 3rd September, Epsom & Walton Downs Conservators gave the go-ahead for two days of concerts (13th and 14th June 2009) on Epsom Downs and their decision was approved with support from the Borough Council at a specially convened meeting on Friday 12th September.
The Liberal Democrats kicked off their conference in Bournemouth this afternoon by discussing the motion "Giving Citizens a Voice in Parliament" which looked at ways the link between citizens and democracy can be improved.
