The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Antony Wood Runs for Sudan

Antony Wood will be running eight miles from Windsor to Sunninghill in order to aid the Sudanese crisis appeal. The run represents the average distance that people in the developing world have to travel to find fresh water.

Chelmsford Liberal Democrat Youth and Student group is celebrating the result of a national student opinion poll, which puts support for the Liberal Democrats at more than twice that of the Conservatives, with the Labour party even lower in their opinion*. It also shows that two thirds would vote in a General Election.

Lib Dem Borough Councillors have successfully blocked plans by developers Twigden Homes Ltd/Marshalls Motor Holdings to build 87 homes on the site of Marshalls Garage on Goldington Road.
