Save our green belt

The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? LET WOKING LEAD IN COMMUNITY RELATIONS

As a Guest Speaker at the Woking Community Relations Forum, Dr Lee spoke to a packed room at the Maybury Centre last night. She said " Woking has a wonderful mixed community of many religions and cultures. Our rich cultural life in Woking is not assisted by Daily Mail-type scare stories about asylum seekers. As the town has the oldest Mosque in the country what happens in Woking matters. There are many good examples of work going on in Woking which encourage all sections of the community to work together with support from groups such as the One World Week to be held later this month".
