The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Mayoral Count Result: Dave Hodgson Lib Dem Mayor of Bedford

Liberal Democrat Dave Hodgson has been elected the new Mayor of Bedford at the Bedford Corn Exchange. Lib Dem Dave led the vote by just over 300 votes at the end of the 1st preference votes, and when second preference votes were redistributed, extended his majority to just over 2,000 votes over the Conservative candidate.

Mayoral By-Election Results News - Dave Hodgson Leads by 300 After First Round

The result of the first preference votes cast in the Bedford Borough Mayoral By-Election have been announced. Dave Hodgson received the most first preference votes of all candidates, and goes into a second round with the Conservative Candidate, in which the second preference votes of the other candidates are re-allocated, with a lead of 323.
