The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Farron: "DEFRA must act on threat to UK bee population"

Liberal Democrat Countryside Spokesman Tim Farron has today written to Lord Rooker, Minister of State for Sustainable Farming, Food and Animal Welfare, demanding to know what DEFRA is going to do to protect the honey-bee, which is under threat from disease, despite numerous warnings that they are under threat, including a debate in the House of Lords on November 27th.

MP calls for new honour for military personnel

Rochdale MP Paul Rowen yesterday led calls for a new honour to recognise dead and injured servicemen. Mr Rowen was leading for the Liberal Democrats on the issue that has united all three political parties in Westminster. Britain's Military bosses came under attack for refusing to award a new medal to our country's most courageous soldiers.
