The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Bedford Borough Elections News: Lib Dem Victories in Rural Wards of Eastcotts, Harrold and Wootton!

The Liberal Democrats have won the rural wards of Eastcotts and Harrold, beating the Conservatives into second place convincingly in both cases, while also triumphing in Wootton Ward, winning its two seats in another emphatic victory. New Councillor Sarah Holland takes over in Eastcotts from Christine McHugh, who stood down at this election. Cllr Nick Charsley holds his seat in Harrold, which he won from the Conservatives in May 2006. Cllrs Judith Cunningham and Tim Hill held their Wootton seats, with a thumping victory over both their Conservative and Ukip challengers.

Avondale

Robin Lawrence and Claire Darke visit the Avondale Centre

Councillor Claire Darke and Councillor Robin Lawrence visited The Avondale Project on Tettenhall Road. They went to learn about the work of the Centre and to meet the managers. Councillor Darke has long been concerned that some sections of the community may misunderstand the work of the Project and that it is seen in very negative light.

Lib Dems celebrate five election wins!

Liberal Democrats are celebrating winning all five county council seats wholly in the Chelmsford parliamentary constituency in the local elections held on 4th June. Councillors Tom Smith-Hughes, Mike Mackrory and Maureen Miller were re-elected, and Jude Deakin and Margaret Hutchon were elected to the county council for the first time.
