The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Robin Lawrence is reselected as Park Ward candidate

Robin Lawrence, who came so close to winning Park Ward from the Labour Party this May, has been re-selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Park Ward for the 2007 Local Elections. At a Branch meeting on Wednesday 19 July Robin was unanimously reselected. Robin said,"I am delighted and honoured to have be re-selected and look forward to carry on the campaign and win the seat next May."

Road Accident "black-spot" sign

Lib Dems take Lead on Black Bull Road Safety

Shepway Lib Dems have taken positive action to support Black Bull and Pavilion Road residents in their efforts to get speeds cut at an accident black-spot in the area. Following a number of serious accidents and near misses, local campaigners Peter Carroll and Darren Briddock worked with local residents by erecting a new traffic sign in Black Bull Road asking vehicles to slow down.
