The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Compensation for the South East's Rail Passengers on the Right Track

Britain's rail passengers, who suffer delays, look set to be awarded higher levels of compensation, following a vote in the European Parliament. Commenting ahead of tomorrow's (Wednesday's) vote on the legislative package aimed at improving the EU's railways, Shepway's Liberal Democrat MEP, Sharon Bowles heralded the move as a victory for passengers.

Colin Ross welcomes news that Farmers' Markets are set to be a regular feature in Wolverhampton

Colin Ross, Liberal Democrat candidate for Wolverhampton South West in the General Election has today welcomed the news that Wolverhampton will have a regular Farmers' Market. Colin said "This is excellent news after the trial that took place in August, I contacted the Council encouraging them to make them a regular feature of our Market area. Needless to say I am very happy with the news that we will see a monthly Farmers' Market in Wolverhampton."
