Save our green belt
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Liberal Democrat research has revealed that 37 million items of personal data went missing last year. The figures raise further questions about the Government's ability to handle personal data, and call into doubt plans for identity cards.

MPs Kramer and Heath Key Speakers at Ashford LD Conference in March
The first of the two South East Region Liberal Democrats annual conferences is on Saturday 29th March in Ashford and speakers will include Susan Kramer (MP for Richmond Park), David Heath (MP for Somerton and Frome) and Baroness Ros Scott. Residents Must be Given a Choice on Recycling say Lib Dems as County Council Prepares to Take Orange Bags Away for Good
