In May 2007, at the Annual Council meeting, Cllr Reg Straw presented a petition that called for the provision of a 20mph zone in the Brentwood North Community Zone.

Save our green belt
The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first.
We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice. Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Campbell challenges Brown to end dysfunction relationship with Bush
Tony Blair has flown to the US for his last set of talks as prime minister with President Bush. Ahead of the talks, Ming Campbell said the uncritical friendship between the PM and President had severely undermined the two countries' 'special relationship', and he highlighted what Gordon Brown must do to restore balance to the alliance. Tony Blair and George Bush's relationship has resulted in untold damage to our reputation at home and abroad.
