Shepway Council have had the graffiti removed from the bus stop in Church Road near the Horn Street junction. This issue was reported to the Council most recently on 12 May by Tim Prater, and has taken nearly TWO MONTHS to get resolved.
Local MP Tim Farron has launched a push to get utility companies to work with more co-ordination following news that Transco will be digging up Stricklandgate in Kendal so soon after the new pedestrian priority scheme has been completed. Shepway Council has rejected a planning application to remove trees and bushes from a site between Valebrook Close and Horn Street. The rejection on Wednesday has been welcomed by Valebrook Close residents who had objected to the proposals, and many of whom where at the meeting.
The Freedom of Information watchdog ordered the Department of Work and Pensions to publish its findings about how the cards could fight ID fraud, the department has decided to appeal against the ruling. Liberal Democrat Home Affairs spokesman Nick Clegg said "The public has a right to know if the billions of pounds the government is committing to this massive project will be money well spent. It is a measure of the government's failure to justify ID cards that during the passage of the bill they never once released a full estimate of its costs and impact."
