The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Local welcome for Liberal Democrat vision for Britain

Liberal Democrats in Hinckley and Bosworth have welcomed the launch of the Liberal Democrats' vision for Britain by Party Leader Nick Clegg MP. Called 'Make it Happen', the paper will be debated at the party's conference in Bournemouth in September.

Footbridge Removal Could be 'Recipe for Chaos'

Bedford Modern School plans to remove the footbridge over Manton Lane and replace it with a toucan crossing. Liberal Democrat Councillors have responded to the news with a warning that a crossing could increase the existing congestion along the busy stretch of road.

Fuller Tackles Tolputt on Pathways

Folkestone Liberal Democrat campaigner Gary Fuller has written to Conservative County Councillor Roland Tolputt to demand action on pathway potholes. A recent survey pathway survey in central Folkestone conducted by Gary found potholes, paint stains and damaged road signs.

New Brabner Park youth shelter

Young people using the Brabner Park play area in Folkestone now have a new teen shelter. The shelter, which was installed on Thursday (10 July), has a built-in solar powered radio and light. It cost just over £10,000 and was paid for by the De Haan Charitable Trust.
