The Government has doubled the housebuilding target for Stockport, weakened the protections on a third of our precious green belt, and is forcing the Council through Ministerial Directives and threats to adopt a Local Plan which will let developers target green belt first. 

We oppose this government’s ‘developers charter’ and need your voice.  Do you agree with us that the green spaces that make our area special need to be preserved, and new housing should first be built on brownfield sites, after the infrastructure is provided with schools, improved transport, and GP places guaranteed? Help us send a message to Government and make Labour listen to local people.

Farron brings national dementia inquiry to South Lakeland

Tim Farron was one of the MPs leading a national inquiry into the lack of adequate training for care home staff working with people with dementia. The Alzheimer's Society, who supported the Inquiry, last week revealed that one in three care homes are not providing adequate training for staff to care for people with dementia.

Rossendale and Darwen's Parliamentary candidate Dale Mulgrew has given his backing to the campaign to get Christie Hospital in Manchester its £6.500,000 back. The petition which now has over 6000 signatures and calls for the Financial Services Compensation (FSCS) to reverse its decision to refuse to refund Christie the money lost when Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander (KSF) bank collapsed in Iceland .
