Tories snub Stockport yet again in latest Levelling Up funding round

23 Jan 2023

Stockport borough has been completely left out of the latest round of Levelling Up funding, with this Conservative Government once again ignoring the pleas of the local community.

The local Lib Dem campaign bid launched by Parliamentary Candidate Lisa Smart and her local council colleagues pushes for funding for a pool and leisure centre that could change the lives of people in Marple and the surrounding area. But despite the pressure of hundreds of signatures to the local petition, the Government's Levelling Up scheme has yet again left out the bid completely, forcing local campaigners to find the money elsewhere.

Blasting the Government's promises of "Levelling Up" the North, Lisa Smart promised:

"The Liberal Democrats will ensure that the Government’s decision does not mean we are left behind. We will never stop fighting for a fair deal for our community.

Please show your support and sign our petition so that we can put even more pressure on the Government and show them how much a this funding is needed for our area."
