Lib Dems deliver full slate of candidates for local elections

6 Apr 2023

We’re delighted to confirm a full slate of candidates for the 2023 local elections across Hazel Grove in the race to control Stockport Council.

In Marple, where the Liberal Democrat Council has recently announced the £20 million investment in a new leisure centre, the extremely experienced and effective local team are aiming to continue their work. Marple South and High Lane Councillors Shan Alexander, Colin MacAlister and Aron Thornley will be contesting the election, while in Marple North it will be Geoff Abell, Steve Gribbon and Becky Senior.

After the boundary changes in Offerton and Hazel Grove, some very popular councillors are moving into new wards with many of their voters. In Hazel Grove, Jake Austin, Wendy Meikle and Frankie Singleton will be on the ballot, and in Offerton, it will be Will Dawson, Oliver Harrison and Mark Weldon.

In Bredbury Green and Romiley, parliamentary candidate Lisa Smart will be joined by her ward colleagues Mark Roberts and Angle Clark, while in Bredbury and Woodley, James Epps, Sue Thorpe and Daniel Willis are up for election.

And in Manor, which will be part of Hazel Grove constituency very soon – and where a series of former Labour councillors are standing as independents to highlight the disarray and internal disagreements that Labour is having – a strong team of candidates is contesting the ward, with Jamie Hirst, Jason Jones and Micheala Meikle.
