Stepping Hill & our NHS

The NHS and social care services are in a state of crisis. The Conservatives have left them chronically under-funded, and staff embattled and undervalued, while need continues to grow and patient care suffers.

That's why Lisa and the Liberal Democrats are calling for an additional penny on income tax which would raise an additional £6 billion in revenue to properly fund our heath services.

I'm also keen that we promote innovative ways to help people. I took Lib Dem Leader Vince Cable to the Alvanley Family GP Practice in Woodley to show him how they are tackling loneliness and physical health problems by encouraging their patients to lead more active lives through activities such as joining choirs or working on a community allotment. This not only helps patients lead more fulfilling lives but ultimately reduces costs for the NHS too.

Stepping Hill hospital

When Stepping Hill was pushing for Specialist Status, Lisa was fighting for them to succeed. We had the backing of thousands of local people and successfully won more staff time and surgery time for the hospital.

So naturally, when Stepping Hill Hospital was hit with cuts that meant closing a ward and losing staff, Lisa was part of the team that stood up and fought for Stepping Hill Hospital.

Lisa ran a petition which attracted over 6,000 signatures. Lisa took that petition all the way to Number 10 Downing Street. With your support Lisa can take the fight into Westminster too and push for a fair deal for our hospital.
