Andrew Stunell MP & Lisa Smart, Prospective MP for Hazel Grove, held a free event with the Government’s UKTI last week in Woodley to help Stockport businesses expand their exporting online.
Commenting Lisa Smart, Prospective MP for Hazel Grove, said –
“I was delighted to be able to bring UKTI to Stockport again so that our local businesses could reap the benefits their expert advice can bring.”
“Exporting is a simple way for businesses to unlock another lucrative channel of income at minimum effort, thanks to the free invaluable help that UKTI is offering our businesses. I’d encourage any business flirting with the idea of exporting to arrange a meeting with a UKTI export adviser as soon as possible.”

Andrew Stunell MP said –
“On-line business is booming, and it means even the smallest local company can sell right across the country. But too often they are missing out the opportunities to sell their product or services across the Channel into the rest of Europe, or even further afield. This was a brilliant teach-in about how to go about it. If you think your business should catch up, then a call to UKTI is all it takes to get started.”
The free export event was held on Friday 27th February, at Stockport Sports Village, Woodley.
Amongst other speakers, attendees heard top tips from Clive Drinkwater, Director for UKTI in the North West and Mark Blackhurst, Founder of Digital Next which began in Bredbury and is now one of Europe’s largest full-servicing digital marketing agencies.
The UKTI’s e-Exporting programme has been created to assist UK companies of all sizes to increase their exports through online channels, as more and more of the world’s consumers buy online.
The e-Exporting programme focuses on servicing the UK consumer goods sector, identified as the fastest growing sector for online exports.
