Lisa brings Nick to High Lane!
Lisa Smart, the Prospective Liberal Democrat MP for Hazel Grove Constituency, has brought Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg to High Lane to continue to press for the second part of the SEMMMS link road going from Hazel Grove to Bredbury. Over recent months, Lisa has brought Danny Alexander (Chief Secretary to the Treasury) and Baroness Susan Kramer (Minister for Transport) to visit the constituency to make the case at the highest levels of government for this important investment in Stockport’s infrastructure.
Lisa said: ”It’s great to have Nick’s support on this crucial issue for our area. It’s such a shame that the local Conservatives are continuing to flip-flop all over the place about whether they support it or not. Only last night, they were in complete disarray at a Council meeting discussing the plans, risking unnecessary and expensive delays.
Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg said: ”Lisa is an excellent candidate and will be a worthy successor to Andrew Stunell as Hazel Grove’s next MP. Living locally, she knows just how important the investment in this road is. Lisa has been a fantastic champion for this road, so I was delighted to accept Lisa’s invitation today. It has been a real pleasure to meet members of High Lane Residents Association, to hear their views on the plans. I know that they can trust Lisa to stand up for local residents and her campaign for investment in local roads.”
