A new ‘Business Finance Guide’ launched this week by the Government has been given the thumbs-up by local MP Andrew Stunell and his Liberal Democrat successor, Lisa Smart.
“This brings together information on all the different help available to Stockport businesses, and makes it much quicker for local firms to see what is available and how to get it. It’s a simple move, but it’s great news for companies in the town”, says Andrew Stunell.
Lisa Smart, Hazel Grove’s Prospective MP said –
“Bringing all the help that’s available for small businesses into one clear, step-by-step guide will be a great help for Stockport’s businesses. Most businesses simply don’t have the time to research into what help they are entitled to, to help their companies grow so it’s up to the Government to make it easy for them. This guide does exactly that and I hope every business in Stockport gets a copy so they can take full advantage of the help they are entitled to.”

More business support is also being provided through the creation of the new website Business Banking Insight (BBI) which looks at how well small companies are being served by the banks, with ratings by 5,000 firms saying just how each bank scores, and later this year the Banking Standards Review Council (BSRC) will start work, acting as a watchdog to deliver better banking standards across the country.
